This is the only one with optical zoom:

I don't have one of those but I have the one step down that is higher res and then a couple of these:

Those are my favorite as 1280x720 makes more sense than 1280x960 as far as viewing on phone etc. I just bought/installed Blue Iris to do some DVR/home security recording shit, but if you didn't need that you can just use TinyCam Pro ($5 app linked in this thread) to see the cameras anytime live and record to your phone. Can also stick SD card in camera and record to it though haven't messed with that too much.

The equipment room camera is a hyper cheap ($20) 720p one with no wifi/pan/tilt or audio that seems to work fine for monitoring. Will probably do some more cheap ones like that for the outside of house since they are indoor/outdoor and not huge/obvious.

Don't want to seem like too much of a creeper on neighbors.

I set up Blue Iris to monitor all of them, turned motion record on for the garage. So I got video of me getting ready to leave, and of michelle pulling in tonight etc. Some really cool options for $70 software.

I found it for only $39.

I heard that second one you posted about if I like it I will order another of the same one.
So you can set it up to record to the computer hard drive or just to the flash card that you put in if you want to store video

With JUST the camera you can set it to record to the camera micro SD card, FTP, email, maybe a network store.

With the mobile app I linked to you can record to your phone

With Blue Iris the software handles it and you can record to you HDD. Blue iris will also create a web server instance and stream stuff or post JPG's/PNGs to that as well, and they have their own mobile app, though it's $10 and I haven't drank the coolaid there yet as the other cheaper mobile app does the baby monitor functions better.

TinyCam Pro was getting solid 30FPS on 3 cameras at a time over my wifi.

the videos are on the camerea, you either have to setup tiny cam to record and leave it on all the time or watch them from the camera interface. Can't watch camera stored videos on tiny cam. That's why I went with Blue Iris so I could just have one central hub for recording etc.
